At the Chaplains Association of Ohio, we are dedicated to supporting spiritual care professionals through every season of life. We are proud to announce our upcoming Fall 2026 interactive Zoom conference, focusing on a critical and evolving topic: collaborative care at the end of life
Join us for “End of Life: Working Together in Sacred Space,” a half-day event designed to explore how Chaplains and Death Doulas can provide unified support for individuals and families in their final transition.
What to Expect
This immersive online conference will go beyond static presentations. The schedule features:
- Interactive Activities: Engaging group sessions, including “The Death Deck.”
- Focused Discussions: Understanding the specific non-medical, emotional, and spiritual role of the Death Doula.
- Chaplain Perspectives: Exploring how chaplains already serve in “doula-like” ways.
- Breakout Sessions: Small group environments for deep reflection and peer discussion.
- Practical Knowledge: A presentation on alternative burial options.
You will earn 3.0 CEU credits for attending.
Meet Your Presenters
We are honored to host two leading voices in end-of-life care:
Carole Silvoy is an INELDA-certified End of Life Doula and a former ELCA Associate in Ministry[cite: 1]. In her practice, Good Heart Companion, she serves as a Life Transitions Navigator[cite: 1]. Carole’s extensive background includes leading Death Cafes, providing caregiver support, and training in dementia care and death positivity within senior communities.
Julie Mislansky is an experienced chaplain, educator, and ministry leader dedicated to helping people find meaning at every stage of life. A lay-leader in the United Methodist Church, Julie completed the Foundations of Death Care course from the Iliff School of Theology
